While Michigan is known to have numerous haunted attractions, here are some you don’t want to miss this season.
Tis the season for horror flicks and candy galore. Halloween is quickly approaching and thrill-seekers everywhere are scouring the state to find the best haunted houses. To make things easier, I’ve compiled some haunted houses closest to Detroit to help you get started.
Erebus
Named one of the most unique haunted attractions in America in 2013 byHauntWorld.com, Erebus, located in Pontiac, has been featured on the Discovery Channel and the Travel channel for being one of the nation’s top haunts. Four stories tall, Erebus is filled with special fx, top-notch costumes, and props that come to life just to grab you by surprise. According to the Erebus website, the entire attraction is just over a half a mile walk inside, and usually takes about 35 to 45 minutes to complete. Wait times vary based on day and time of arrival, so it’s recommended that you purchase your tickets online in advance.

Night Terror Haunted Thrill Park
If you’re the type of person that likes options, this may be the place for you. Located in Ypsilanti, the Night Terror Haunted Thrill Park features six attractions to keep you on your toes all night long. Aside from the typical haunted house attractions, Night Terror Haunted Thrill Park also features a bakery with cider and donuts and a haunted hayride and haunted paintball.

Haunted Farm of Terror
Featuring a haunted hayride, haunted house, corn maze, and zombie paintball throughout its 20 acres of land, the Haunted Farm of Terror celebrates its 12th year as one of the top horror attractions in Michigan. They often feature such special events as hosting various radio stations such as 89X and 95.5.

Hush Haunted Attraction
In 2013, Hush Haunted Attraction, located in Westland, was named the Top Haunt of The Year by Horrorlust, and one of Metro Detroit’s Top Five Haunted Attractions by Channel 4 News. Boasting new renovations, Hush will keep you shaking in fear. As an added bonus, they have added heaters throughout the waiting area.

The Realm of Darkness
With 45 rooms to go through, The Realm of Darkness takes you on an adventure of horror. If you make it through that, their website instructs you to journey next door to their additional attraction, The House of Nightmares, which is a 3D experience where your fears will be able to actually touch you.
